Revelation Within On the Go!
Revelation Within equips people with life-giving, grace-infused mind renewal tools to deepen their intimacy with Jesus so that counterfeit comforts (like overeating) lose their allure, and the joy and hope of Jesus fills their lives, satisfying their souls.
In our podcast we talk about mind renewal, tips and tricks for getting and staying free from counterfeit comforts like overeating (over-scrolling, over-drinking, over-anythinging...)
We began as Thin Within in 1975, a pioneer in intuitive, mindful eating back when diets were in their hey day! Thin Within has taught people how to tune in to their body's natural signals of hunger and satisfaction, remaining present with their meals and delighting in tastes and textures--and the Lord!
In the 1980s, Thin Within became a Christian ministry, showing people that the emptiness that they have felt and often filled with food that their bodies don't require, was really placed in there to be filled full with God through Jesus. He wants to set us free from all strongholds!
We rebranded our ministry and our podcast in 2023 to Revelation Within.

Hi and welcome to our podcast Revelation Within On the Go. I'm Heidi Biles-Mepperson, one of your hosts and the owner and lead coach of the RevelationWithinorg ministry.
Speaker 2:And I'm Christina Motley, your other host, also a Revelation Within coach and Heidi's partner in all things Revelation Within, and we're so happy to invite you to this very special episode of Revelation Within On the go.
Speaker 1:This is our 100th episode.
Speaker 2:Oh my gosh, I can't even believe that's possible. How is that even possible? I know.
Speaker 1:Wow, when you think how long each of them are, that means we've talked about stuff for 50 hours, and we know it's much more than that because Joy Lynn cuts a bunch of it out, but anyway. So, yeah, we are so blessed that God has encouraged us to make these podcasts and even more encouraged that, wow, we've been doing it a hundred times.
Speaker 2:I know it really blows me away and, of course, making a podcast is not something I ever, ever, ever expected that I would do in my life.
Speaker 1:So, christina, what's been your favorite episode? Oh gosh, that's hard when you really start thinking about all of them, but at first I thought, oh, it's this one, no, it's that one.
Speaker 2:I'll just do themes. I think, like one of the things that I absolutely love in our podcast is when we interview somebody.
Speaker 1:I love that.
Speaker 2:I really, really love that. I'm hoping we'll get to do it more and we'll be doing. I know we have one planned for sure, but I love hearing the people's stories that come and visit us in our podcast making. I love to hear about God's transformative love in their lives and grace. Oh my gosh, I just it makes me smile the entire time we're doing the podcast. I know, you two, we talk about how our cheeks get sore because we're smiling so much, but yeah, I love listening to those. Yeah, that's one of my favorite categories of our podcast. How about you, heidi?
Speaker 1:Well, the first one that jumped into my mind. And then I started thinking of people we've interviewed and I was like, yeah, I love the interviews too, but if I were to pick something other than the interviews, I think one of my favorite ones was the one where we talked about all those silly things that have happened, whether it was in the kitchen or the things that we've experienced in our attempt to apply ourselves to spirit led eating, and how God has just given us a lot of godly giggles over some of our attempts, you know.
Speaker 1:and and of course, the first story that jumped into my mind was the being the last one to take the first bite story from my wedding rehearsal dinner, when so many they were then participants who had been friends over the years came and nobody was eating because they were all looking at Christina, who had taught them very well, apparently, to be the last one to take the first bite.
Speaker 2:Well, when you have, you know, six people doing that, those six people aren't going to eat Nobody was eating and it's like what are you guys doing? Barb said she was the one who asked. She said why isn't anyone eating? And they said we're all waiting to be the last person to take the first bite. Right, right, that's so funny. So much fun, so much fun.
Speaker 1:Something we haven't talked about, though, that I can think of in all 100 episodes, so 100,. We haven't talked much about kids and eating this way. Oh yeah, and my babies were birthed and born and raised in a home that practiced these principles At least I did and so my kids kind of grew up with it, and it's totally cool to see the kids, because that's kind of the way they eat naturally is if they're hungry, they'll eat, and if they aren't, they won't. And it's just so interesting to me. You know they play and they play and they play even though you want them to sit down and eat Think about Playlands and stuff at the different restaurants and the kids just want to play. They don't want to stop and eat, no, and they'll eat when they're hungry.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yes, they are so good at that, especially the little ones. It seems like they are. My kids were school age when I started to eat that way, and I remember that they noticed I was trying to be subtle about it, but they noticed me saying things that I had never said before.
Speaker 1:Like.
Speaker 2:I'm not hungry, yet You've never said that before no.
Speaker 2:I mean it's like wait a minute, you know, because with all my dieting over the years I had always tried not to be hungry. And it's like, oh, I can eat tomatoes all day long, so I won't be hungry. Well, that doesn't last very long. You get really tired of the same thing. Yeah, anyway, I would say things like no, I only need this much. And they would look at me like what? Or let's go out for ice cream and I'd say, no, thanks, you know, you guys can get something, I don't need any, right? What Are you, my mom? What did you do with my mom?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think at first, because, boy, I mean, I think about like family days and family trips, and what was on my mind all the time when the kids were little, where are we going to stop next to eat? I was so obsessed. I remember one time we were in Estes Park and the kids were little, we were camping, and that was what was on my mind. We were in the car, driving back into town, I think, to go to the grocery store or something, and I just could not stop thinking. I was obsessing over where are we going to stop? What can I get? Can we get a little cookie or a fancy coffee or this or that. And I remember at one point I don't remember what he said, but my husband commented on it, david commented on it. I don't remember what he said. It wasn't unkind but it was convicting. Something like is that?
Speaker 1:why are?
Speaker 2:you thinking about that so much? You know kind of something like that. And I remember thinking why do I think about this so much? It's like on my mind all the time, it's like I need it to survive or something.
Speaker 1:That's really how I felt. Yeah, I think a lot of the listeners can identify with you in that, and I know I can certainly as well. It's like I wouldn't finish breakfast before I'd be thinking about lunch and dinner, and it's like what are the plans? What are the plans? What are the plans? Where are we going?
Speaker 2:Where are we going and let's have it all planned out. And, yeah, what I do remember this is kind of fun. The connected, though. It's been more than 10 years since I started coaching with Heidi. Heidi was my coach. She was the most encouraging person I had ever met. I was so encouraged by her and I felt like you know what, if she can do it, I can do it, and she taught me how to renew my mind and that was the game changer. I know I've said that so many times on this podcast, but I want to make sure I say this first.
Speaker 2:And then, you know, a few months in, heidi, you were in the middle of that horrible, horrible health crisis. I remember I was constantly watching to see how you were looking at my phone, checking in. But we went on a camping trip, our family. We had a trailer at the time and I remember we went to the wet mountains I didn't have Lyme disease yet and we went to the mountains and it was so beautiful they're called the wet mountains because it rains so much and it was so green, green, green, and I remember it was basically our first family trip where I felt like I was walking in freedom, with food and eating.
Speaker 2:That's sweet, I mean. I didn't know that it would last, but I knew that in that moment and on that trip I was listening to my body and I was fitting into clothes that I hadn't fit into. It just felt good, like I felt comfortable in my body and I wasn't obsessing over what we were going to eat when and what was going to be next. I just remember it was a huge milestone for me. It was a totally different of trip and I remember checking in with you often and just really enjoying the peace that I felt.
Speaker 2:On that trip we did some paddle boating. You know that kind where your legs go, your legs go around and you're paddling in the funny little boat and I remember we did that, we rented those funny little boats on that trip and I remember looking across that lake and just praising God and thanking him for the freedom that I was experiencing. It was amazing.
Speaker 1:Yay, that's awesome. So we haven't talked much about kids and eating this way, and we have talked a lot about the importance of mind renewal. Yes, probably in every one of 100 episodes Probably in every one of 100 episodes we've talked about that. We've also talked a little bit about our pets and the way they have been packed, swiping the cake off the counter. Sebby was a dog that I had, and then Christina had her for the last years of her life.
Speaker 2:Yes, so funny.
Speaker 1:So what would you say is your favorite topic that we've talked about? You mentioned the favorite genre of episodes of the being the interviews, and, yeah, I'm with you there. If you were to pick whatever you wanted to talk about, what would it be what? What is your favorite?
Speaker 2:oh, I think you know the answer to this one, heidi of. Before I answer, I also want to say that some of my favorite parts of making podcasts with you, heidi, are all the minutes and hours that nobody hears, where we are just laughing so hard and sharing and talking and carrying on, and oh, I love that part of it so much.
Speaker 1:I just want to say that really quick. Yeah, and I have to say this there is one person that is now, and has been for months now, hearing all of that, and that's our dear Joy Lynn Symes. She is amazing.
Speaker 2:She does all editing of our podcasts now and that job is big and tough and heavy heavy duty, I'm sure we're not easy to edit because we're all over the place when we make our podcast. So thank you, joy Lynn, from the bottom of our hearts. Yes.
Speaker 1:I just want our listeners to know that there's a third part of this. Joy Lynn is a very important part of our ministry.
Speaker 2:Yes, definitely. So back to your question. The answer is mind renewal, of course I mean. The renewing of the mind is there's just nothing that lasts without. It is what I feel like. It doesn't continue on, it falls flat like everything else Right, I love talking about it, I love doing it with you, Heidi, and with our listeners and with the people we coach, and with our community at revwithinteam and my one-on-ones of course. I absolutely love it. It's life-giving, it's life-changing and it's the only thing that I have found in my whole 55 years. That will actually, I mean through God, of course God's the one doing it, but there's transformation there, in the renewing of the mind.
Speaker 1:Yes, obviously I would say the same, and what I have discovered over the years, as I'm sure I've mentioned in our episodes and you know this about me is whatever it is I'm facing, whatever it is I'm facing, I mean, I could eat over anything. So that's like a no brainer.
Speaker 1:It's all going to result in my eating if I don't think God's thoughts about it. So, whether it's a difficult situation, an unexpected news, somebody saying something mean or bad weather, even I am likely to eat over it if I don't think God's thoughts about it. And practicing thinking God's thoughts about whatever I'm facing is the only way for me to navigate life, the hardships and the challenges without being face first in whatever food I can grab a hold of, and so I love that topic as well. It just absolutely from the beginning of my experience with it and I do need to just mention Barb Raveling had a big part in my diving into that, and that was before she was a published author and all of that I would go to her website and she and I were friends. It was such a significant turning point in my eating relationship with food and eating. I mean it was.
Speaker 1:Without renewing my mind. I never could have seen changes in my eating and the way I relate to food and the way I relate to my body. And even so, now, this many years later, I mean it's the better part of 20 years later and I still and I've said this in our classes if I am renewing my mind, the actions follow suit. So if I practice thinking God's thoughts, I'm going to believe things that are going to line up with actions that are going to honor God. And if I'm not renewing my mind, my fleshly brain is going to be what's in charge? I call it the 10 year old being in charge and I don't want the 10 year old in charge of choices like when I'm going to eat and what I'm going to eat, how much I'm going to eat and all of that. I want the redeemed woman of God to be the one that surrendering to God deemed woman of.
Speaker 1:God to be the one that surrendering to God. She asks him what do I need to do with this? Whether it's a circumstance or just sitting down to dinner, he's there and he wants to lead me. So I absolutely love that. Mind or Knoll has just. It's transformed moments, it's transformed weeks and it's transformed my life. It's not just a theory for me anymore and really barb raveling had a big part in helping me see how practical it was and then of course, since knowing you, christina, it was like we've bounced off each other all kinds of ideas.
Speaker 1:I've watched you just bloom and grow in so many ways since Mind Renewal came into your life and it's been. One of the best things I could have ever experienced was seeing that transformation in you. That's been awesome and it continues to be.
Speaker 2:Yeah Well, oh my gosh, I mean I just it's amazing to me when I think about all those years that I kind of just begged God for transformation and I was just so hopeless and so trapped and so full of shame I thought this is it, this is all there is. Really, I mean it just didn't make sense to me. And so I love Heidi, I love our message, I love what we do. I love Heidi, I love our message, I love what we do. I love that everything we do points people and us to the Lord. Yes, I love that, and I love that we are constantly talking about his love and who he is and who we are because of him. I absolutely love it. It's just an amazing experience to work with you, heidi.
Speaker 1:Thank you, and I feel likewise. What would you say are some of the most significant truths? That over the course of time that we've explored together, whether it's in the ministry offline or the ministry behind the scenes, with the podcast, or in the podcast, or personally, which would you say, the truths are that have been most transformative for you.
Speaker 2:Yeah, boy, that's a good question. You're coming up with all these good questions out of thin air, so here's a big one for me. That's been life-changing for me. I don't have to be amazing. Well, it's not me, though. When I, when I am amazing, that's God doing that, but I don't have to figure it out. I don't have to be amazing. I can just be exactly as I am weak and, you know, tripping and stumbling around, and that's okay. I don't have to figure out how to be amazing, and I don't have to be amazing for everyone else, like I don't have to figure out their lives either. What the more.
Speaker 2:I learn about who God is, and the more I learn about who I am because of him, the more I can let go of that pressure that I have to be A plus mom, A plus teacher which I'm not doing right now. A plus coach, A plus wife. You have to be an A plus girl. Where did that come from? No, I don't. I don't Pressure gone. Take that off of me.
Speaker 2:I had a long talk with one of my daughters last week and we talked about things in her childhood and I said you know what? I'm not a perfect mom and I am so sorry for this and for that, and I will never be perfect. So please keep telling me and let's work these things out. And it's like that feels so much better than oh, my gosh, I totally messed up the condemnation that I used to put on myself, you know. So I love that truth. I don't have to be amazing. God's the one who's amazing and I'm okay just as is.
Speaker 1:Yes, exactly, you are better than okay as is.
Speaker 2:How about you?
Speaker 1:A truth from you, heidi well, and for me it's these two pillars it's who God is and who he says I am, yes, and so for me, it was who God is that flipped my journey on its lid, and I just kind of want to back up and share a little bit about how that became so vital to me.
Speaker 1:My family and I moved to a new community in 2002, I think it was which was pretty soon after the book was published released that's Thin Within, a grace-oriented approach to lasting weight loss and you know I had just such an amazing time writing basically what turned into the book. For it, Judy Halliday would talk to me every day and I would try to grab a hold of her thoughts and put them on the page and she would edit. It was it was. I felt like God was so in that project and then finally, it was actually published. We moved to this new community and I was not at an ideal size by any means. I wasn't at a healthy size by any means, and it was a small town in the middle of kind of nowhere called Cool California you can look it up sometime and somebody at this new church we were attending said aren't you the person who wrote the thin within book?
Speaker 2:Really I don't feel like I've heard this story?
Speaker 1:You haven't heard this, oh my gosh. Now this is going way back before the first episode of our podcast, that's for sure, this is going back decades, anyway, and I was so embarrassed because I knew the truth very well.
Speaker 1:I'd written the truth and yet I wasn't living it, and so, you know, I admitted it to her. I mean, it was like I was so ashamed and God is not the author of shame and so I took that to God and I started asking him what is my problem? That was the way I asked him questions back then. Now he's taught me there's a lot more grace that should come into even that kind of a question. It's like, lord, would you show me where my heart is going with this and what are my thoughts, what lies I'm believing? And what he taught me was I resented him. Good Bible study girl that I was, I had a deep seated feeling that God had expected too much of me with some of the things he'd given me to do in my life.
Speaker 2:And.
Speaker 1:I had a hard time being a decent parent because my parents weren't so decent, if not for a really wonderful father for my kids who I was married to for 33 years. He was a great dad. He was an amazing parent. I'm so thankful God gave me that. But God just showed me. You need to know me better, child. You need to know who I am. And I just started plunging into the scriptures, looking at who is God, what does he say about himself? Because that's what I want to latch onto, not what I think he's like based on my own quote experience. My experience can lie to me, you know, when I think, oh, god doesn't love me. That may be the way I feel, but that doesn't define truth. Thankfully God showed me that feel, but that doesn't define truth. Thankfully God showed me that. And as I began to jot down what I saw in the word about who he is and what he's done for people.
Speaker 1:I began to want to give him my food and eating it was like it flipped it on its lid. It flipped my whole journey.
Speaker 2:It was like I don't know. It was like the hinge.
Speaker 1:that turned everything around. That combined with forgiveness. You know that I want to walk in ongoing forgiveness and I think that's been a challenge for me, but God definitely taught me early on walk in forgiveness, know who I am and celebrate who I am, he said to me. After that, I would say, was definitely knowing who I am because of him. Just like you said, my journey definitely started to change when I looked at who God really is.
Speaker 2:Yes, well, and those are the things that you told me when we got started with coaching some, some of those things, and I thought, oh my gosh, who is this person? Like she, I mean, um, you know and I've been going to church my whole life but these truths about our thoughts and about who God is, I mean, I thought I knew who God was, you know?
Speaker 2:I thought, I was all good with that kind of thing. You know I thought I'm in the word every morning and that no, it's. It's a whole different thing. That Romans 12 to you know, that renewing of the mind. We just kind of gloss over it so often. I think a lot of us do. I mean, I knew that verse.
Speaker 1:We think it's Bible reading and prayer. And gosh, have I ever learned otherwise you?
Speaker 1:know I mean, really, if I can look at my life and not see transformation, then that verse seems to imply you know, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. If I think it's Bible study and prayer and I'm doing a boatload of that and I'm not transformed, and there's something missing. You know, it's interesting to me over the course of these 100 episodes, our message has definitely shifted. We started off talking about the diet mentality and talking about, you know, thin within, definitely, and the eight keys to conscious eating, and over time it just really began to morph into this message that I'm loving more than ever, me too. And it's just so true.
Speaker 1:We need the Holy Spirit, we need God in order to do any of this. We are going to be turning to food or other counterfeit comforts. If we don't renew our minds, we just will. Sometimes, the counterfeit comfort might just be living in a state of depression. That's what a lot of people do. I think they just shut down. I'm just going to stay depressed because it's easier than the work needed. And no, I'm not talking about clinical depression, of course, but I mean we're feeling sorry for myself very intentionally.
Speaker 1:And I know that I could go there. But renewing my mind has just made a huge impact in that.
Speaker 2:One of my favorite things too, heidi, has been watching you bloom in terms of creating curriculum and classes and just the way that it's presented, on technology that you've learned and bringing basically your artistic skills into it, and I mean it's been so much fun. When you and I started coaching groups together, we were on the phone, right. I mean we had group phone calls, that's what we did, and I was so sick from Lyme disease, I was just laying on my bed and we were doing these phone calls like several in a row Sometimes, you know we did. We were doing like six at a time and that's all we had. We had Facebook when we started kind of really working together.
Speaker 2:I mean we were working on the Thin Within, fresh Wind, fresh Desire book, of course, and finished that. I helped you finish it, which was so much fun. I was so excited about that that just felt like I had won the lottery, even just to do some editing on it. I think I wrote two chapters or something. I mean it was just amazing. Anyway, but I loved joining you. When you asked me will you join me? And I'm like, oh yes, I just wanted to. So much I felt so honored. Of course, I was teaching at the times and I had the school age kids and my parents to care for and all that it was so much fun. Anyway, over the years, heidi, it's just been amazing to see the way that you have bloomed in your writing and your sharing and your stories and your insights, and the way that it's all been presented. Our classes are amazing because of you, heidi. That's the truth.
Speaker 1:I just come along. I think you're a little biased.
Speaker 2:No, oh yeah, except that I've helped you teach them again and again, and again, and so I know the content, backwards and forwards, and it is the best message I can think of to share. I love it.
Speaker 1:You know it's interesting because, you know, really, since the beginning of the year I did kind of get into this creating mode and we've had a lot of new, like the Radiant Grace Planner, 30 Days to Victorious Living, aside from Size, and then we also had the God's Worth, the New Masterclass.
Speaker 1:Yes, and then we also did the Scriptural Self-Perception. Yeah, and those are just since the beginning of this year, I think a lot of it has been because we have been doing the podcast, we have been clarifying our message, we have been talking more and more about how it's not a weight problem, it's a worth problem.
Speaker 2:A worth problem.
Speaker 1:Yes, we don't get the worth God attributes to us. We don't wrap our hearts around it, our brains around it, embrace it. We have to be so intentional to do that. The messages that are being sent to us in our society are so contrary to that. Even in our churches the messages can often be contrary to that. It's been so much fun. I have found my own heart just kind of kicking into high gear when it comes to that. I love what we get to share, what we get to teach.
Speaker 1:And it's kind of goes back to what I learned from Barb Raveling way back when in one of her books, where she said you know if I don't remember how she said it, I just know how I've changed it over the years.
Speaker 1:So I'll just say it my way, and that is that. You know, if we think the problem is a food and weight problem, then that's what we're going to treat. And the world says it's food, weight and eating problem, and so they say diet and exercise basically, but what we really have is a stronghold problem. Yes, and what we think is really the key issue Do we think God's thoughts? Or are we thinking lies?
Speaker 1:Or are we thinking little t-truths like what we talk about often in our classes and gosh, it's just been awesome to see things transition, even in the 100 episodes. Talking with you again and again and talking with the people we've got to interview has just reinforced that this is not about weight. Yeah, people want to lose weight. That's probably why they came initially. But they see, many of them are seeing that that's just a superficial symptom of the deeper need to have a God shaped sense of value and worth. God attributes to us so much value, so much worth and when we really live from a place of understanding and believing that, it does make all the difference in the world in how we treat our bodies. I mean, I've said it so many times and I know you have too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but it is true, it's absolutely true. And then to see the people we work with kind of like get that, you know like they're, they're having revelation after revelation. Actually, it's like, wait a minute, this is changing my relationships. Yes, who God is and who I am because of him is changing my relationships. It's changing the way I relate to my friend or my husband or my daughter or my son. You know, like there's a change here.
Speaker 2:It's not just in this one area, which is kind of often where we begin, like you said, because people come and that's why I came and that's why you came too.
Speaker 2:Like you said, because people come and that's why I came and that's why you came too, because we're uncomfortable in our own skin and we're stuck in the stronghold.
Speaker 2:But then it starts spilling over and I think about a fountain and how it spills and sprinkles and all of a sudden it's kind of all over the place and people and myself included, it's like wait a minute, this is all about my work and what God's calling me to and what he's not calling me to, and what about performance?
Speaker 2:You know, the world seems like our whole world really. Our culture, certainly here in the States, is so much about how much can you do and how fast can you do it and how amazing can you be and how many letters can you have behind your name, and you know what about material things and the cars and the houses and all the different things, or or how about the way that your kids behave, or you know what happens with them and their future, and it's like wait a minute, We've forgotten, or maybe we didn't ever really know, what's important to God, what his thoughts are, what his priorities are, what brings glory to him. We've made it all about ourselves. Yeah, yeah, and when the focus is on ourselves, we just go down.
Speaker 1:We just go down. It's true. It's true when it's me myself and I, my weight, my size, my food, my eating that's definitely not going to have any part in our message. We are so clear now that, as we get steeped in the truth of what God says about us, when I begin to believe that what he says is true, so many things change. I begin to change the way I treat myself. I begin to change the way I treat others, and one of the other things that changes when I have a sense of worth rooted in Christ, I begin to believe that he is calling me to step out of myself and be more out there to speak truth to others. And whether it's as a Sunday school teacher or as somebody who's taking a meal to somebody or whatever, I begin to believe that, okay, I'm not going to hide anymore because I'm ashamed of the way I look, or, you know, my focus is on externals. I begin to believe that he's called me for a purpose. He says that I'm fearfully and wonderfully made, and it's not just hide under a bushel. That's a mix of all my metaphors, anyway, but it's true. It's like yes, I become attuned to the fact that he has called me to something. And what is that? And it's not beyond me, because what he calls me for, he will equip me for going back to um the beginning of this year, ephesians 2,.
Speaker 1:We talked about being God's masterpiece and how it's the master. It is the master who made something that makes something a masterpiece, not the way I think it looks or the way I think it performs. So the very fact that God made us and he's called us, that is what creates a masterpiece and we are his masterpieces. And it says further on in Ephesians 2.10, that we are God's masterpiece, created in Christ to do good works which he prepared in advance for us to do, and I love that one. Understanding my role, my worth as a masterpiece because of God, is what's going to enable me to even be ready and awakened to what he's calling me to, and that is an exciting place to be.
Speaker 1:It is exciting, yeah, when I am living as God's workmanship, called by him, and doing those things he's planned in advance for me to do. I get to know him so much better. I lean on the Holy Spirit. I need him in my life to do whatever it is, and he knows that. So he's there and he has given me everything I need for life and godliness. So I think it's exciting the way our message has morphed and even since we began the podcast and the podcast has been going. Let's see, almost two years. In August it'll be two years, I think. I know right. Amazing, amazing. I've loved every minute of it.
Speaker 2:I have too. I've absolutely loved it. While you were talking, heidi, I just went in my mind all the way back to my very, very, very first visit, when I came to see you in person in California, at that house in cool that you were talking about, and, heidi, you were learning how to walk again after that crazy, horrible, scary health crisis and you and I were going on all these little walks and we were looking for places to walk together and it had to be flat because you had a hard time with balance and you were learning I was using a walker mostly and a cane at my best, yeah, so when you were first sharing all of this with me I mean, of course, we had some phone calls before you got sick, but I remember walking with you, arm in arm, on the path around the park at Lotus and we were talking about all these things.
Speaker 2:We were talking about God's truth, we were talking about mind renewal, we were talking about you know God's thoughts and thinking his thoughts after him.
Speaker 2:And all of that While you were learning to walk, your physical body was so weak, you had almost died and I was there with you and you had my arm and we were walking together. And that is such a beautiful picture in my mind because God's strength was amazing in you then, when your body was so weak, your body was so weak and we didn't know that my health crisis was on the way. Just in a few months, I was so sick and you came to visit me and then we were both a mess for a while. And then we've had the ups and downs in the last 10 years and, it's true, our messes have become our messages. Yes, it's true. And then the next 10 years for both of us were incredibly challenging, hit after hit, after hit after hit, and I mean I'm just so grateful, heidi, that we've been able to walk through every day together and use the renewing of the mind as our life ring. You know it's like.
Speaker 2:And also just being able to do that with you, heidi, it's just been one of the greatest gifts of my life, for me as well, so I'm just grateful. I just think about that and how we've been walking arm in arm ever since, and this podcast is a huge part of that. A huge part of that, a huge part of that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and it's interesting. You know talking about that because when we began all of these June classes, the free classes, I felt like the Lord led me to use the caption come with us, and I can honestly say that nothing would give us greater joy than for all of the listeners, any of you all, to come with us, come with us, let us, let us join together and support you and encourage you in person, if you will.
Speaker 1:I mean, Zoom isn't exactly in person and live in the community isn't exactly in person exactly in person. And in live in the community as an exactly in person. But we would just relish having an opportunity to support and encourage you and and you'd be encouraged by others as well in our community. Speaker 1:What have I done?
Speaker 2:It's been amazing, heidi, when you first sent me that text and you said, well, I didn't even understand it at first. You're like, this is what we're going to do in June.
